Purpose and Tasks

The Mission of the Faroes to the European Union was established in 1998. This initiative was taken by the Government of the Faroe Islands in cooperation with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Mission of the Faroes to the European Union is located on Rue d’Arlon 69-71 together with the Danish Permanent Representation, the Royal Danish Embassy, and the Representation of Greenland to the European Union.

The purpose of the Mission of the Faroes to the European Union is to act as the representative of the Faroese Government at the location. Since the EU is the largest trading partner of the Faroes, much effort is put in maintaining and strengthening this relationship. The Mission provides advice and information about the Faroes, its legal rules and regulations. It also assists with questions concerning Faroese Foreign Policy and promotes Faroese trade and culture in general. The Mission of the Faroes to the Europan Union always aims to further develop these relations in existing and new areas of mutual interests.
