  Representation of the Faroes
[Føroysk útgáva]

Welcome to the Representation of the Faroes in Reykjavik

The Representation of the Faroes in Reykjavik opened on 15 September 2007. By signing the Hoyvik Agreement in August 2005, the Faroese and Icelandic governments chose to expand the economic collaboration between the two countries and open up markets to each other.

As a result of this agreement, the two governments took the initiative to establish representations in each others capitals. Hence, the Icelandic Consulate General opened in Torshavn in April 2007 and the Faroese representation opened in September 2007.

The Faroese representation in Reykjavik is located in Austurstræti 12, 3rd floor.
The Faroes and Iceland are close neighbours and share the same cultural heritage. Our two countries have longstanding traditions for cooperation in many areas, in particular within the fisheries sector.
The objective of the new Representation in Iceland is first of all to enhance our political, administrative, cultural and commercial relations with Iceland. But we also would like to strengthen our relations with the countries already having a diplomatic presence in Reykjavik.

This website provides general information about the Faroes, Faroese-Icelandic relations, as well as key links to sources of further information.
We hope you will find this site and our Representation's services a useful starting point for your contacts with the Faroes. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further information and assistance.

Mrs Gunvør Balle, Minister Counsellor
