Today Jørgen Niclasen, Minister of Foreign Affairs,  met with US Ambassador, Laurie S. Fulton at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  At the meeting, the minister accounted for the political and legal status of the Faroe Islands as well as current foreign policy affairs. Among other issues addressed relating to how  the two countries can forge stronger links, the issue of how the processing of visa applications from Faroese citizens wishing to travel to the US can be facilitated.

The US Ambassador arrived in the Faroe Islands today. In accordance with a comprehensive programme for the visit to the Faroe Islands, the Ambassador is to meet with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Trade and Industry, the Minister of the Interior and at the Parliament (Løgting). On Friday the Ambassador is to give a lecture at the Nordic House under the heading “President Obama´s foreign policy agenda during first year in office”.  Hereafter she is due to open the exhibition “Picturing America” at the Faroe Islands Art Museum.

The ambassador leaves the Faroe Islands on Saturday.
